Indiana, Ohio … and Beyond!

Doug bedded down this morning in Indiana before dawn, after a rough night. 90 minutes of shuteye later (with the additional morning rituals of pushing liquids into his hand to drink, vitamins, pep-talk and toothpaste) he was refreshed and ready to ride through Indiana and into West Virginia.

He looks incredible out there today. There were some good climbs that got him excited to be on his bike in the beautiful weather, some amazing countryside to see once the sun came up (including an absolutely gorgeous winding country lane called “St. Mary” outside of Hamilton IN), and lots of yummy bottles of HEED to eat. Right now we’re outside of Time Station 42; he should roll in (and we’ll do a shift change) any minute.

Doug had some added incentive today, in that Canine Companions for Independence folks were out in force. At multiple time stops in IN, and at a park in Hamilton, they brought out their pups to inspire him and remind us all why he’s riding. The pups were happy to lick his face — apparently salty sweat is tasty. Thank you so much to all those who were here to give him some pep!

Doug is going to ROCK in WV. He’s ridden those mountains before as part of his training, and climbing is totally his element. The miles will fly by. So come out to cheer him on as he moves through WV, PA and MD!

    Hoover Damn you’re almost here!!!
    Keep it up!
You are surrounded by angels disguised as crew members. What you guys have all accomplished out there is bigger than you can imagine. There are no words.

You’ve shattered the glass ceiling of what we all thought was possible of the human body and spirit and so many of us are deeply indebted to what you’ve given us. In an entire lifetime most people don’t experience what you’ve given us, and we aren’t even there.

    God speed

Almost Home!! I feel like singing a John Denver song “Almost heaven, West Virginia….”. What an accomplishment for Team Levy….go, go ,GO!

Doug way to go and DRIVE ON!

Was going to be in Hanover PA to cheer ya and then on to Annapolis on Thursday but the slave driver’s in Pottstown told me today I HAD to work. Silly people think the sound of explosions may alarm people driving on rte 100 so we are closing the road. Yes I am being sarcastic, but only in so much as I think your RAAM journey is more important in so many ways, since there are two quarries in the same area that blast all the time.

Well I will be there in spirit and will have the lap top constantly updating for results so I can at least pretend I was their to cheer ya on.
